The Texoma Area Red Cross has been excessively busy this year.
Now, all its efforts have taken a toll on its bank account. The local chapter of the Red Cross has needed money since last year.
Representatives with the Red Cross tell me they have been bombarded by just about every type of disaster you can imagine.
With the holiday season approaching, it's only going to get busier.
Last year, the local chapter of the Red Cross handled more than 100 house fires in our area, and helped those victimized by the heavy floods this summer.
Now we are in the middle of fire season, and Sharon Watson, Director of the Texoma Area Red Cross, says they are low on funds.
"We have about $6,000 in the bank. One or two good house fires could wipe that out. We have no reserves, we used all our reserves for the house fires last year," says Watson.
The local Red Cross has served Grayson, Fannin, and Cook County for more than ninety years, and they depend on the local community's support.
