Cute Pic of Cat and Puppy

I always click on these cute photos.

It's a story about a lab puppy who was abandoned by her mother.

A cat is now taking care of him. Check it out.

Have a great day.

Pics from Halloween at the Heard

We had alot of fun Saturday night at the Heard Museum. Thanks to our interns Laura and Marcus for their help. Also thank you to our Promotions Director Lisa and her son, the white power ranger! General Manager Randy Friend and his son Brady also helped out. They were handing out candy at the T-Rex.

Are you Too Competitive?

This morning we talked about some friends that we have who are super competitive. I have a friend who can't play board games b/c she knows she takes it too seriously.
Maria said that she is competitive and Todd just lets her win.

Here's a quiz from Men's Health to see if you are too competitive.

Baby Name Trends for 2008

Good Morning. Welcome to Wednesday.

I found this online this morning and thought it was interesting. The article talks about the latest trends in baby names. If you are having a baby soon, maybe you can get some ideas here.

I've always been a fan of the traditional names but, some of the newer names are cool. I like the idea of using a last name as a first. I think Cooper is a cool first name. My mom named me after her great-great-great grandparents last name which was O'Carey. I'm glad she dropped the O!

Office Photos

Here at KLAK we are so lucky to work with some amazing people. If you ever come to the studio, Robin is the first person you will see. She takes care of everyone and keeps the office running smoothly. She also does a whole laundry list of other jobs but just thinking about all of them makes me tired.

Tomorrow we'll feature another co-worker that we couldn't live without!

Best Boss EVER!!

Thanks so much to our boss Randy Friend who brought us breakfast this morning. You are a life saver. Maria and I were both having trouble waking up... turns out we just needed some food. See kids, this is why you need to eat a good breakfast every day before school.

2 Sure Things at Halloween

Hey there. Thanks for stopping by today. This is an interesting story we found today. There are two professions that keep busy around Halloween. Here's the story:

*Busy plumbers and busy orthodontists. People carving pumpkins tend to put the pumpkin brains down the garbage disposal where the seeds and stringy stuff clog up everything. This keeps 'joe plumber' busy.
Orthodontists usually have their hands full the day after Halloween with all those broken or damaged braces dislodged by chewy candy. There are also various dentists around the country who are either buying back your candy (usually at $1 per pound) or accepting contributions of excess candy to send to the troops overseas. *

I'm actually going to try to NOT eat Halloween candy this year. It's going to be hard though because I love chocolate and I love Candy Corn. What's your Halloween weakness?

The Love List

Hi there.

Here is a story we found at Oprah.com today... Was it coincidence or magic? Alice Gorman wrote 100 things she wanted in a man, and buried the list in a closet. And then, oddly enough, a man who matched the list almost exactly strolled into her life. Seriously, people, how did that happen?

Click here to read the whole story.

Many of our listeners told us about their "love lists" and how they really work! Have you ever made a "love list?" I'm working on mine right now. Maria already has the man of her dreams and I don't think Johnny was really paying attention to this part of the show.

Carrie's Home for Wayward Dogs

Well, if you listen at all you know that I am an animal lover. This week, in addition to my dog Jack, there are 2 more dogs in my house. I'm dog sitting for Skippy and Chewie. Skippy is an older sweet girl who sleeps most of the day. Chewie is a 5 month old Shih Tzu who never sleeps.

I'm sure he got his name because he chews on everything... especially toes, socks and shoes. Luckily, his teeth are tiny. He broke his leg recently and has a cast on but, he can still outrun Jack to the back door.

He also steals Jack's food and chews on Jack's blanket. (if Jack was writing this blog, it wouldn't be pretty I'm sure)

But, I will tell you this-If you ever have a bad day and need a smile... Just hold a puppy for a few minutes. It does the trick every time.

Do not forward this blog

Good Morning.

Yesterday I got another one of those annoying chain emails that threatens you with bad luck if you don't forward it. First of all, if any of my friends are reading this, please stop forwarding those things to me. I NEVER forward them. But, then I got to thinking, maybe my flat tire last month was because I didn't send the "save the kittens in South America" email.

All of our listeners agreed that they are dumb and shouldn't be sent... so who the heck is starting these things?

If you really have to send one of them here is Johnny's email address.

Kids Feeding Kids

Thanks to Sara Abbott from Valley Creek Elementary in McKinney for stopping by the show today to tell us about the Cougars CARE program. Valley Creek wants to empower children to help others. This year the students in K-5th grade are buying food for the Food Pantry. There are ways that you in the community can help also. The Food Pantry has a need for powdered milk, peanut butter and oatmeal. You can drop off a check at the Food Pantry. (Put Cougars CARE on the check) Or you can go to Tom Thumb, look for the Cougars CARE sign, buy the food and drop it off at Valley Creek Elementary. For more information contact Sara. Her email is saraabbott75070@tx.rr.com

Marcia Marcia Marcia

Hey gang. Did you see that Maureen McCormick has written an auto-biography. I can't wait to read it. Although, I always kind of related to middle child, Jan.

Here's some info: Maureen McCormick, the young actress who portrayed her, was living a very different—and not-so-wonderful—life. Now, for the very first time, Maureen tells the shocking and inspirational true story of the beloved teen generations have invited into their living rooms—and the woman she became.

Maureen takes us behind the scenes of America's favorite television family, the Bradys. With poignancy and candor, she reveals the lifelong friendships, the hurtful jealousies, the offscreen romance, the loving support her television family provided during a life-or-death moment, and the inconsolable loss of a man who had been a second father. But The Brady Bunch was only the beginning. Haunted by the perfection of her television alter ego, Maureen landed on the dark side, caught up in a fast-paced, drug-fueled, star-studded Hollywood existence that ultimately led to the biggest battle of her life.

After kicking her drug habit, Maureen battled depression, reconnected with her mother, whom she nursed through the end of her life, and then found herself in a pitched battle for her family in which she ultimately triumphed.

Johnny is a wimp

So, Johnny B couldn't handle the hair!

Maria and I convinced him to grow the goatee and it was lookin' good. But, he couldn't do it for one more day so that Maria could see it! Just one more day, B. He gave us a million reasons but, we know it's because he's a baby.

Maria is back from vacation and we are so happy. It just isn't as fun without her in the studio in the morning.

Don't forget to visit Johnny B and the KLAK crew at the Grayson County Fair this Saturday from 2-4pm. He will have the ATV from Maxim Honda with him. Stop by and register to win it.

If you are a NKOTB fan listen tomorrow for another chance to win tickets to their show at the American Airlines Center.

Thanks for listening.

Our Busy Day

Hi there.

Johnny is on day 2 of the goatee. He's whining about the itching. Maria and I want him to keep it. I have offered him free lunch if he can.

Congrats to everyone who won tickets to the FC Dallas game. They play San Jose tomorrow night at Pizza Hut Park.

We also talked to Sy from the Heard Museum about our big event this month. It's Halloween at the Heard on October 25th. Get all the details here.

Roy from Randy White's Hall of Fame BBQ came in this morning to talk about this week's Deal of the Week. Thanks so much for bringing us some delicious food!
