Friday Night Lights

Well, the football season has arrived. I am so excited. If you love McKinney ISD Football... make sure you listen to 97.5 KLAK for our spotlight games of the week. Tonight is R.L. Turner at McKinney North. We have posted the schedule of game broadcasts at www.975klak.com

My Nebraska Cornhuskers play tomorrow afternoon. GO BIG RED. And Johnny's West Virginia Mountaineers play this weekend too.

This morning we asked you how you wake up in the morning. What kind of alarm do you use? How do you wake up the kids for school? It was alot of fun. I am glad that I am only responsible for myself in the morning. B and I both has 2 alarms set, just in case one doesn't work.

You can join Johnny B tomorrow morning at El Dorado Motors from 10-Noon. Stop by and say hello and try to win a prize. Also check out the great deals from El Dorado.
(highway 75 North. Exit 41 in McKinney.)

We will be off on Monday. I hope you also get a 3 day weekend. See you Tuesday.

Tips for Kindergartners

Howdy people. How is your Wednesday going?

Today we read a great article with 1st graders giving their advice to the new kindergarten kids.

Things they should know to survive their first year of school:

"Outline the picture first, then color it inside."
"Put antibacterial on your hands so you don't get germs on your snack."
"Don't be afraid of your teacher. The teacher is always nice."
"Work on getting friends on the first day of school. It doesn't matter how you dress."
"Don't be nervous because your parents will come back and pick you up after school."

This is great advice for 5 year olds and for adults!

Did you read about Leona Helmsley's will. She left $12 million to her dog!! Her grandkids only get $5 million. You should all go call your grandma right now and tell her you love her.

We also had another rousing edition of The Singing B. Congrats to all of our winners. They could actually figure out what B was singing. We gave away prize packs and tickets to the Goo Goo Dolls Friday night at Smirnoff.

Have a great day bloggers. See ya tomorrow.

What do you mean?

Hello gang. Thanks for reading the blog today.

Today we shared a list of things we all say and what they actually mean.

Words that Women say and what they really mean
Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
Five Minutes : If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!
Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing.
That’s Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you’re welcome.
Whatever: Just as dangerous as FINE
Don’t worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself.

Things Men say and what they REALLY mean

I’M GOING FISHING” Means: “I’m going to drink myself dangerously stupid, and stand by a stream
with a stick in my hand, while the fish swim by in complete safety.
IT WOULD TAKE TOO LONG TO EXPLAIN” Means: “I have no idea how it works.”
TAKE A BREAK HONEY, YOU’RE WORKING TOO HARD”.Means: “I can’t hear the game over the vacuum cleaner.”
THAT’S INTERESTING, DEAR.” Means: “Are you still talking?”
I CAN’T FIND IT.” Means: “It didn’t fall into my outstretched hands, so I’m completely clueless
YOU LOOK TERRIFIC” Means: “Please don’t try on one more outfit, I’m starving.”
I’M NOT LOST. I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE WE ARE.” Means: “No one will ever see us alive again.”
WILL YOU MARRY ME? Both my roommates have moved out I cant find the washer and we’re out of peanut butter

Make sure you listen tomorrow for a chance to win tickets to Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse and Colbie Calliet at Smirnoff Friday night. We will be playing The Singing B again. Johnny B loves to sing, and you can finish the lyrics!

Have a great day.

Back to School Memories

Happy Friday campers.

School starts Monday for all the kiddos. Today we shared our memories of kindergarten. I can still remember the name of the first friend that I made. Jenny Fry. And the name of the bully of my class! ROYCE. I wonder where he is now.
Johnny remembers having a hot teacher. He also says that he DIDN'T eat glue... but, we don't believe him.

Monday we will talk about the ways you get your kids up for school.

Other things we discussed today:

Lindsay Lohan gets just a one day jail sentence.
Nicole Ritchie does 82 minutes in jail.
David Beckham starts a fight on the field.

I would try to write something funny about those items... but, I am exhausted.

Thanks for listening to the show and reading the blog. Have a great weekend.

We are so old

Hello and welcome to the blog. Thanks for stopping by.

Today we came across a list of facts about the students entering college this year as freshmen. They were born in 1989... here are some things to know about them:
-Humvees have always been available to the public
-They have never known a time without bottled water
-They never had to "roll down" the car window
-Fox has always been a major network
-High Def tv has always been available
-"off the hook" has never had anything to do with telephones
-Pete Rose has never played baseball
-Al Gore has always been running for president or thinking about it

We also talked about the Travel Channel's Anthony Bourdain and the weird foods that he has eaten on his program. Wart Hog, Stinky Tofu, a beating Cobra's heart etc... uh, gross. The strangest food I have ever eaten was Rattlesnake Cakes. (tastes like chicken). Johnny had goat once. Maria had alligator meat.

Johnny and I had a blast at Fan Fest last night at McKinney North. Thanks to everyone who came out. Casey our IT guru will be posting photos soon. Check the homepage of www.975klak.com and click on Pictures. Our last Fan Fest is at McKinney Boyd on Sept. 5th. Join us from 6-8pm.

Check in tomorrow for an update on the point totals of Star vs. Star. Johnny will probably get more points b/c Lindsay Lohan has a court date.

James Brown is my daddy

Good Morning.

Another DNA test has confirmed a woman is James Brown's daughter. This makes THREE people who have now proved to be related to him since his death. I feel good, indeed.

Did you hear about the arcade video game in Japan that has been banned. Nope, it isn't Dance Dance Revolution. It is an arm wrestling game. Three people have broken their arms playing it. I think I sprained a few muscles playing Frogger in 1985 but, I never broke anything.

Please check out this week's Pet of the Week. His name is Brian and he is the sweetest dog. He is a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen Mix. I know! He's a WHAT?! He is available at the SPCA in McKinney. I have totally fallen in love with him.

Today was another Singing B contest. B sang hair band songs and you had to finish the lyrics. Congrats to Wendy and Sharon who sang Motley Crue and Bon Jovi. They won tickets to see the Frisco Roughriders tomorrow night.

Look for me and Johnny B tonight at Fan Fest for McKinney North High School. We will be there from 6-8:00pm.

Have a good day.

Carrie

Star vs. Star Point Totals

Since our commissioner Maria can never remember who is winning... I will post the latest for her and for you.

Amanda- 40
Carrie- 47
Johnny B- 70

Isn't it about time for a major Britney Spears story?! Amanda can catch up if Brit just freaks out and attacks a photographer tomorrow.

Johnny also had a HUGE day in our Star vs. Star game. Lindsay Lohan, Madonna, KFed and Mike Vick netted him 31 points. He is now the leader.

It is almost back to school time kiddos!! Next week as you head back to school you can call in your shout outs!

Working for the Weekend

Hey Campers! Happy Friday. In case you missed it. Johnny was very excited about today being Friday. He couldn't stop mentioning it. I guess it was a long week for him.

Here is the update on our Celebrity Teams. Amanda got more points today because Eddie Murphy was in the news. I got a couple thanks to Nicole Ritchie and Tom Cruise. B got a few for Michael Vick. We will go over the totals and add some more after the weekend events. I am really hoping that one of my "players" gets arrested over the weekend.

This is the Tax Free Shopping weekend in Texas. I wish I was going back to school just for the shopping fun. I don't really want to go to class or take tests though. I loved getting new clothes. I had my first day of school outfit picked out weeks before classes started.

If you know a family having trouble paying for school supplies, there are a bunch of organizations doing fundraisers. Check out the EVENTS section of our site or send me an email and I can give you info. carrie@975klak.com

Congrats to Kim Gilmore of McKinney. She is a member of our Loyal Listener club and won tickets to Nickelback and Daughtry this morning. You can still sign up for other prizes. go to www.975klak.com and click on LOYAL LISTENER CLUB

Look for Johnny B at Market Street in McKinney on Saturday from 10-Noon. He will have prizes with him.

Have a great weekend and we will see you Monday morning.

Check Your Cheese

Good Morning Campers! It is Monday and it is going to be HOT HOT HOT again today. I guess I will put off mowing the yard again.

Some weird stories this morning. We read about a guy who is suing McDonald's for $10 million because he bit into a burger and had a severe allergic reaction to the cheese. Apparently, he ordered it without cheese but, didn't look before he ate it.
I always look at my food before I eat it.

We also discovered a new trend in choosing your freshman college roommate. Many students are now doing internet searches on their roommates before school starts. Using Facebook or myspace to decide if they want to live with that person for a year.
Remember, looks can be deceiving. A photo of Johnny B doesn't help you at all. He looks so innocent! And you can't smell through the internet.

Did you know more workers make mistakes on Mondays and Fridays than any other day. We shared our biggest at work mistakes today... But, after I shared mine, Johnny and Maria said that they have never made any. WHATEVER.

Hey, make sure you join the Loyal Listener club at www.975klak.com We are giving away tickets to Daughtry/Nickelback this week. The show is Sunday at Pizza Hut Park.

Have a good Monday.

Friday Friday Friday

Hey gang. I think the title of the blog says it all. We are just so darn happy that it is Friday. It has been a long week. How about you?

Please join me today at Red River Autoplex (2020 Hwy 75N in Denison) from 4-6pm. I will bring along some great prizes and the folks at Red River will provide food and great specials.

Congrats to Lunch Bunch winners Pivotal Research in Allen. If you want free lunch from Panera Bread, send us a fax. 972-838-1330

Tomorrow is the Fourth of July celebration in McKinney. It was rescheduled b/c of all the rain. Details at www.975klak.com Click on EVENTS

Pre season football has begun. The Cowboys beat the Colts last night. It was nice to have a game to watch. GO BOYS!

I only have 500 more pages to read of the new Harry Potter book. Maybe I can do a little reading over the weekend.

Have a great weekend. We will be back Monday morning.

Fergalicious

Howdy bloggers. Is it Friday yet?

Today we introduced a new game called Star vs. Star. It is kind of like Fantasy Football, but, our teams are made up of celebrities. Every time one of your celebrities makes the news, you get points. Johnny and I and a listener have teams, and Maria is our ref. The draft will happen on Monday morning at 7:20. I hope to get Britney, Paris and Scary Spice.

What does your ringtone say about you? We found out today that your ringtone tells others about your personality. The fact that my cellphone doesn't do ringtones tells you that I am technologically impaired. A rap or hip hop song means you are young at heart, but, not very original. A classic rock song shows your age. If you have the Dr. Who theme song it means you are a geek, own a MAC and probably work in IT.

Join us tomorrow morning 5-9. Have a great day.

Hit me with your best shot

Howdy Y'all. Happy Wednesday day to ya.

Today was our first (and hopefully ONLY) version of The Singing B. Johnny B sang part of a song and listeners had to finish the lyric. We gave away Roughriders and Rangers tickets. The grand prize was a helicopter ride around McKinney.
It is strange how all songs sung by B sound like a lounge version. And he snaps to the beat.

We also found a list of Ways to Know That You are a Grown-Up.
5. You actually sit and watch the Weather Channel
4. You're the one calling the cops to complain about those $#%@ kids that won't turn down the stereo!
3. You keep more food in the fridge than beer.
2. 6:00 a.m. is when you get up not when you get home.
1. your houseplants are alive and you can't smoke any of them

Those are all true for me. Johnny isn't so sure on the BEER one.

Have a great day. Catch you tomorrow morning.

Baby Shower 101

Hello there. Thanks for stopping by the blog.

This morning I had listeners help me plan a baby shower for one of my friends. I have never done one before and need lots of help. The key is GAMES. My favorite is "guess the baby food." B thought that you actually EAT the food to figure it out. That would be a very short party. And I am sure nobody would ever ask me to throw another party.

Here is a great website. www.babyshower101.com

Johnny and I are taking bets on if the Van Halen reunion tour will actually happen.
There is a press conference planned next week. David Lee Roth will be singing.

Tomorrow is THE SINGING B. You can finish songs that Johnny starts and win prizes.

The Dummy Line

Hey kids. Happy Monday.

Today is the DFW American Idol Auditions. We sent Casey and Jennifer to the stadium to check out the talent. They had people in line singing and some of them were pretty good. Maybe someone from Collin County will be the next American Idol.

B loves to sing on the air. Today he told us about a song he sang in grade school called the Dummy Line. I thought he was making it up... but, it is a real song. It is basically about people who do dumb things and die! I KNOW! Why are kids singing this song?

I hope you have a great week. It is going to be HOT HOT HOT. Remember to hydrate.

Who Pays for the Date?

Hey gang. Thanks for checking out the blog.

Today we got into a discussion about paying for dates. Who pays after the initial first date? Is it always the man's job? Should women offer to pay? B thinks you should try to get total strangers to pay!

I think that the person who came up with the idea for the date should pay. Or you should take turns. Many people agree with that idea. What do you think?

Also today we found out just how much B hates Whoopi Goldberg. Actually, HATE is a strong word. He just "doesn't get whoopi" (his words, not mine)
She is joining The View on September 4th.

Have a great Thursday. See ya tomorrow.

I want my MTV

Hello campers. How is your Wednesday going?

Today is the birthday of MTV. It signed on the air on 8/1/81. I remember having to watch it at friends' and relatives' houses b/c we didn't have cable in the 80's!

I loved Duran Duran videos. And I hate to admit it but, I was a huge Michael Jackson fan in 1984 when Thriller came out. Johnny's favorites are all the Weird Al videos. (no surprise there eh?)

To celebrate... try to find a music video on MTV today. You will have better luck search youtube.

Hey, maybe you can back me up on this. I told Johnny that I saw a coyote this morning in McKinney on the way to work. He doesn't believe me. Have you seen one? This was right on Eldorado and Ridge. He is pretty sure that I was drinking!

In the words of my 8 year old neice.. Peace Out. Carrie
