Laws of Attraction

Good Morning. Here is some interesting info from the John Tesh Radio Show.

Science-Based Laws of Attraction

The laws of attraction are based around science. It’s not a very romantic notion – but knowing some of the subconscious reasons we’re attracted to one person over another could help you find the love of your life. Here’s your chemistry lesson, courtesy of Women’s Health magazine.

•First off, you’re more likely to pair up with someone who’s just as attractive as you are. According to Dr. Helen Fisher, who wrote the book Why Him? Why Her?, people tend to be drawn to others on their same physical level – think Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Why? The reason isn’t very romantic – but it’s the truth: Subconsciously, we want to be successful in love. We want to pair off, and we know if we choose someone who’s on our level, we’re less likely to get rejected.

•We’re subconsciously attracted to people who have similar sounding names. Why? Dr. Kevin Hogan wrote the book Irresistible Attraction and he says it’s because we’re conditioned to like what feels familiar. So you’ll often find couples with sound-alike names, or similar initials. If you don’t, couples will often give each other sound-alike pet names. Maybe he calls her bunny and she calls him bear. That can achieve the same bonding effect.

•We’re also attracted to people who share our quirky habits. If on your first date you discover that you both love anchovies but hate mushrooms on your pizza, bam! Chemistry. Why? According to Dr. Hogan, we admire people who mirror our idiosyncrasies. We feel they understand us and it creates an instant bond.

•We’re drawn to people we want be like. We’re attracted to people who have traits we admire – but may lack. Why? Dr. Pepper Schwartz is a sociology professor at the University of Washington, and she says it’s because they keep us balanced. So a wall flower may be more attracted to a social butterfly. The positive trait that you admire in your partner often rubs off on you.

Dallas Police Officer back in Texas

Here is a great story from our community. It is from News 8.
**

A Dallas police officer who was stuck in a Denver hospital returned home Monday night. In a story News 8 reported exclusively Friday night, Officer Alex Garcia's wife made a public appeal for help to move him the 660 miles to North Texas.

On Monday, she got her wish. The 22-year-old officer arrived at Love Field aboard a CareFlite air ambulance.

Garcia has been in intensive care at Denver's Centennial Hospital since July 8. That's when he collapsed from severe dehydration and several blood clots in his brain during a police conference in Colorado.

Garcia underwent there surgeries. The officer wanted to come home, but the city's insurance carrier, UnitedHealthcare, would not cover it because it wasn't considered an emergency.

Bonham Chrysler dealer Eugene Kneis saw the News 8 story Friday night and called the station, asking how he could help.

Kneis donated $7,500 for the air ambulance flight. The McKinney man said he watched Garcia's return home with great joy.

"It gives me a warm feeling, but I understand what the officer has to go through now for his recuperation,” Kneis said. “I hope people don't forget him after this, because there's a lot of expenses that need to be paid.”

Garcia's commanding officer said that while he doesn't know how long Garcia will be in the hospital, he does know that being home will make it easier for him and for his family.
